1. Power Selection
Gear motors come in two types: squirrel-cage and wound-rotor. Squirrel-cage motors are simple in structure, easy to maintain, and inexpensive, but have poor starting performance. They are generally suitable for production machinery that starts under no-load or light-load conditions;
Wound-rotor motors have high starting torque and low starting current, but are complex in structure and more troublesome to start and maintain. They are only used in situations requiring high starting torque, such as lifting equipment, and can also be used in machinery that requires adjustable speed control.
2. Economic Selection
Generally, imported ones are much more expensive than domestic ones, and those from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan are more expensive than those from mainland China. The choice depends on the specific circumstances of the enterprise.
3. Speed Selection
The speed of a gear motor is close to the synchronous speed, while the magnetic field speed is graded by the number of pole pairs P. Speeds between these grades are not available. The principle of gear motor speed selection is to make it as close as possible to the speed of the production machinery to simplify the rotating device.
4. Power Selection
The power selection of a gear motor is determined by the production machinery, that is, by the power required by the load.
